REF. 08/028 May 3, 2008. I lived briefly in a lovely Le Marche town called Fano a few years ago and I would like to come back to the region for a year, around September this year. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a local primary school with some English speaking staff or students that isn't an expensive private international school. REF. 08/026 March 19, 2008. My grandfather Luigi Marinelli was born is
Serrungarina. He married Maria Ferri and had a child Angelo. Maria
died during the birth, in Soltara in 1898. He then married my
grandmother Marietta Valentini of Calcanelli (next to Saltara) and

REF. 07/024 September 23, 2007. My husband and I are considering buying a refurbished
vacation home in Ascoli Piceno area. We are not familiar with
the real estate market. I have seen in some of the comments
that you should offer substantially less then the asking price on a
home that needs to be refurbished. Would this apply to a home
that has already had the work done? The real estate agent said to
anticipate about 10% above the selling cost in closing expenses.

REF. 07/022 August 24, 2007. We are a large family (5 children) and we are currently renting an apartment just outside Loro Piceno, Le Marche. We are looking now to rent a house (with garden) long term (at least a year) again in this area as the children attend the local school. Thank you, Leanne Young. |

REF. 07/021 August 18, 2007. We are completing on a property not far from San
Ginesio early October and coming out at the end of September to
check-out furniture/wood burning stoves. Can anyone advise where
to buy a bed (not Ikia). Looking for traditional, rather than
modern. Not sure about antiques in the area -
wardrobes/cupboards. Do they exist/are they expensive compared
to France?

REF. 07/020a August 27, 2007. I am planning a trip to my father's birthplace in Pretare this fall. I will probably land in Milan or Rome. What is the easiest way to get to Ascoli from there. Train? Where in Ascoli can I rent a car to drive on to Pretare? Any advice on the best means of transportation and hotels in Ascoli or Pretare would be appreciated. Grazie,

REF. 07/019 August 16, 2007. I have a house in Le Marche. As a lone woman I was
very careful about contractors etc. I was VERY fortunate to have a
good agent and an excellent Geometra and builders. So please do not
despair they are some good ones, more so than in England. However my
problem is knowing or finding out where all the Festas are held and
when. I have stumbled across some and made dates in next years
diary. Does anyone know of a publication or a list? Approx dates are
fine. Also about Antique fairs. As a keen collector I would like to
know where they are and when. I did find the yearly one at
Grottamare.

Hello: I would like to visit the Ascoli Piceno area,
in July. I would appreciate any advice on getting around...not sure
if I would need to rent a car. Is there a local bus or taxi service
to get there from the Ancona or Pescara airport, and to visit places
in the area?

is part of the region Ascoli Piceno. We are traveling there in
August 2007 in time for the Festa Bella held every 3 years. We

REF. 07/011 April 15, 2007. I've recently completed a restoration project in Marche managed by a local geometra. The cost, excluding "extras" is over 60% of the estimate 2 years ago. I budgeted
15% over and am really stuck. He just says prices have risen and won't negotiate.

REF. 07/009 April 12, 2007. Could anyone help us. We are moving to Le Marche in 3 months and we are looking for a place to rent. We have enquired with several estate agents but they seem to handle either holiday rentals or sales but not long term lets. We need a 3 or 4 bed place with a garden. for reasonably priced housing and also would like to know about
schools in the Ascoli Piceno province, we would like to live with a
mountain view, a couple of acres and a partly restored house would

father Arturo Caponi was born in Pretare in 1891. I have written a
book: The book takes readers on a journey which began in 1997. it includes trips to Abruzzo and Le Marche in search of documents of birth, marriage and death which tell about Arturo and Rosa as well as their ancestors. The theme of the book is a "how i did it approach" to genealogy research of anyone with interest in immigrants from Italy. The book contains about 400 pages of narrative and documents. it is expected to be available by the end of this year (2006). I would be honored to be invited to present the book to the membership of any social organization. as a former college professor I yearn to be in the classroom again. caponi21833-at-hotmail.com

REF. 06/001 January 7, 2006 My name is Bret Antonelli and I live in the United States. My grandfather was Domenico Antonelli who came to America in 1929. He came from a town or village called Cerreto or Ceretto in Le Marche. I have never been able to find a town by this name on the maps. Has anyone ever heard of this place. Bret Antonelli. |
